First Philosophy Residency in Monaco
In 2020, the Philosophical Encounters of Monaco will organise the first Philosophy Residency in Monaco, with support from the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Supporting and hosting authors and artists is one of the missions of the Prince’s Government. The aim is to contribute to the quality and diversity of contemporary creativity by allowing artists to devote themselves entirely to a personal research project.
For the first Philosophy Residency, Professor Avital Ronell (New York University, the European Graduate School), an honorary member of the Philosophical Encounters, will be in Monaco from February to July 2020.
As part of the Residency Workshop, the philosopher will present two lectures, in French and English, and will produce a piece of writing on the theme “Philosophising in Monaco”, which is set to be published by the Philosophical Encounters in the Textes & Conférences collection.
The first lecture will be presented on Wednesday 1 April 2020 at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, in English.
