AGORA, la place du musée [the museum as a meeting place] – LAB#3: the new exhibition at Villa Sauber

After the first LAB in 2015 (“Behind the scenes of the museum”) and a second one in 2018 that examined what defines a museum, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) is spotlighting its public programmes that put artists and transmission at the heart of their objectives, until 4 May 2025.

Once again, the museum will become a laboratory and its roles of collecting, studying, sharing, producing, conserving and transmitting subject to a series of discussions, experiments and innovation. Visitors can discover works acquired since 2017 as part of the Apprentis Collectionneurs programme, an exhibition based on heritage collections, as well as productions by Léna Durr and Éléonore False, two recent guests at the artists’ residency.

With the vast project to structurally transform Villa Sauber around the corner, this new exhibition is an opportunity to take stock of the unique, tailored learning programmes offered by the NMNM:  The “Collection voyageuse”, “Nouveau Musée Numérique” and Léa Collet’s current residency offer regular workshops, while the “Ecoletopie” project by smarin studio offers a mediation salon.

Another feature of the AGORA exhibition is a series of events, screenings and performances in a ‘meeting place’ designed by Olivier Vadrot on the ground floor of the Villa.
