54th Concours International de Bouquets - October 7 and 8, 2023 - Riva Tunnel (8, Quai Antoine-Ier, Monaco)

Under the High Patronage of H.S.H., the Sovereign Prince and presided over by H.R.H., the Princess of Hanover, the theme of the 54th International Bouquet Competition will be: ‘The Circus Festival’, in tribute to the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III.

Organised by the Garden Club of Monaco, the event will be held on 7 and 8 October 2023 in the Riva Tunnel on Quai Antoine Ier, Monaco.

Participants from all over Europe are expected to compete in creating imaginative, floral arrangements, considered to be authentic works of art.

The circus theme will be split into several categories, all ‘freestyle’ and open to everyone (amateurs and professionals, designers, and teachers, except for the ‘youth’ category which is reserved for children aged 6 to 14):

1. Trapeze artists

2. Contortionists

3. Equilibrists

4. Magic

5. Acrobatics and porcelain

6. Circus animals

7. Clowns (youth category)

Two judging panels will vote on the submitted entries:

-          The special panel of judges presided over by H.R.H., The Princess of Hanover comprises leading figures from the world of arts and literature who will be awarding special prizes.

-          The ‘official’ panel, made up of judges, teachers, international authors, and floral art specialists, will award the Gold, Silver and Bronze Insignia and the General Grand Prize, in addition to the Princess Grace of Monaco Prize.

For the first time, the Garden Club de Monaco is organising short, free lectures for enthusiasts, beginners and those who are simply curious.

Following last year’s success there will be another floral art demonstration.

The programme for Sunday 8 October: 

- From 11am to 1pm - The Yacht Club's Meeting Room, accessed via the Quai Louis II:

1.         'Orchids', by Stefano Anfossi (Azienda Agricola Anfossi - Sanremo): everything you need to know about caring for orchids, from watering to fertilising, transplanting to flowering, and a few more interesting facts about this elegant plant of unique beauty. 

2.         'Lemons, from their origin to the present day', by Armando Spajani: these precious citrus fruits, so typical of the region, have more secrets to reveal.

3.         'Roses', by Patrick Hérault (Secrets de Roses - Grasse): an aromatic, fragrant and sensory journey exploring the beauty, scents, and mysteries of the rose. 

- From 3.00pm to 4.30pm:

A flower arrangement demonstration by Kévin Billard and Carmelo Scarso, florists and designers at the Prince's Palace.

The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday, 7 October from 6pm to 7:30pm, and on Sunday, October 8 from 9:30am to 6pm.
