COVID-19 Home Patient Follow-Up Centre: 735 people supported since Centre opened

Minister of State Pierre Dartout paid a visit to staff at the Home Patient Follow-Up Centre on Monday 30 November. He was accompanied by Minister of Health and Social Affairs Didier Gamerdinger and the Ministry’s Secretary-General Ludmilla Raconnat Le Goff.

The Centre is a unique facility, open seven days a week. Since it first opened in March 2020, it has provided medical support to 735 patients infected with the virus whose condition did not require hospitalisation.

Having been placed back on standby for several weeks during May and June when the situation no longer required it to be fully activated, the Centre reopened at the Rainier III Auditorium in July. Every day, nurses call each patient for a consultation to check their state of health, under the supervision of a doctor who handles patients with more complex conditions.

In cases where the patient’s health requires it, the Centre’s doctors can also offer teleconsultations, with support from volunteer Monaco Red Cross first aiders who carry out home visits.

Three weeks ago, the number of patients monitored at home rose to 125; it currently stands at 23.

The same technical facility is also home to the COVID-19 Call Centre and the Contact Tracing Unit, whose role is to get in touch with people who have tested positive for COVID-19 to trace their contacts, working in collaboration with the Office of Occupational Medicine and the Medical Inspectorate for Schools.
