Mask wearing in public spaces in the Principality

Since 4 May, when the lockdown first began to be eased in the Principality of Monaco, it has been mandatory to wear a mask in enclosed spaces open to the public.

This decision has, up to now, helped to control the spread of the virus in the country. The recent cases identified in Monaco have, for the most part, involved people who were infected outside the Principality.

In keeping with its pragmatic and evolutionary approach to managing the health crisis, the Prince’s Government intends to strengthen the protocol on mask wearing, counting on responsible behaviour on the part of local residents and visitors to Monaco.

Specifically, it is now mandatory to wear a mask on Place du Palais, in the lanes and alleys of Monaco-Ville, on Place du Casino and on the Fontvieille Shopping Centre esplanade. Since these locations are heavily visited during the summer period and safe distancing cannot be guaranteed, it is important to be particularly vigilant to ensure the health and safety of all those in these areas.

This measure will apply from Wednesday 12 August 2020.

Wearing a mask is highly recommended in all outdoor areas other than those mentioned.
