Presentation of the Main Features of the 2019 Preliminary Budget
This morning, the Minister of State and the members of the Government presented the draft 2019 Preliminary Budget.
"The Government has worked hard on the major trade-offs that make Monaco prosperous. What prevailed in our preliminary discussions with the National Council was the search for a budget that would be in the general interest," emphasised the Minister of State in the preamble.
He explained that "public finances were in balance and the 2019 preliminary budget, with a surplus of EUR 3.7 million compared to EUR 2 million in the 2018 preliminary budget, was a response to maintaining this balance."
The budgetary forecasts, in comparison with the 2018 preliminary budget, predict revenues of EUR 1,346 million, i.e. + EUR 128.5 million (+10.6%) and expenditure of EUR 1,342 million, i.e. + EUR 126.8 million (+10.4%).
This Budget takes new approaches into account: digital transition, energy transition, an increase in acquisitions and intermediate operations in the field of housing and an education policy that is orientated towards e-education and personalised guidance. It is also pursuing priority action that is already underway in the fields of social affairs, education, security and quality of life.
