On Friday 7 July, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince officially opened the “Maison du numérique” (Digital Technology House) in the presence of H.E. the Minister of State Pierre Dartout; Brigitte Boccone-Pages, President of the National Council; Marjorie Crovetto, Second Deputy Mayor; Frédéric Genta, Country Chief Officer for Attractiveness and Digital Transition; Etienne Franzi, Chairman of Monaco Telecom; Xavier Niel, Majority shareholder in Monaco Telecom, and a number of political and economic figures in the Principality.

Launched by the Prince’s Government, Monaco Telecom and Monaco City Hall as part of the Principality’s digital transformation programme and open to the general public from Saturday 8 July, the new centre, located at the Jardins d’Apolline, will offer digital support services to local residents.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring that all Monegasque nationals, residents and employees —of all ages— are equipped with the understanding and knowledge needed to use the digital products and services available in the Principality.

“The launch of the “Maison du numérique” is an important event in making digital technology accessible to everyone in Monaco. We want to ensure that everyone acquires the skills needed to keep up with the rapid pace of technological change. This is vital to the attractiveness of Monaco,” highlighted the Minister of State.

Equipped with interactive terminals and a wide range of computer and digital equipment (smartphones, tablets, computers, connected televisions, fibre modem, WiFi terminals etc.), the “Maison du numérique” will offer a varied programme throughout the year in fully modular facilities:

- Assistance and open access to equipment, with digital advisors available on site from Tuesday to Saturday to guide visitors in the use of digital tools, online services and the most commonly used applications.

- Workshops for small groups offered throughout the year to deepen knowledge on various topics using a fun, hands-on approach.

- Special conferences with experts who share their experience using an educational approach to raise awareness about the latest digital trends and developments in Monaco.

“The risk of a digital divide, across the population and especially for seniors, is a reality. Helping people improve how they use information and communication technology day-to-day is a top priority for us,” said Marjorie Crovetto, Second Deputy Mayor.

“As a telecommunications company, our role is about more than just connectivity. With the opening of the “Maison du numérique”, our mission is to support people in this transition, providing them with the tools, knowledge and confidence needed to thrive in this new technological era,” concluded Martin Peronnet, Chief Executive Officer of Monaco Telecom.
