Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, visited Monaco Post Office’s parcel sorting facility during late morning on Friday 29 June. She was accompanied by Jean-Luc Delcroix, Director of Monaco Post Office, and Cyril Gomez, Director General of the Ministry of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development.

At the facility in Fontvieille, the new sorting machine, which is 17 metres long, handles Colissimo and Chronopost parcels at a rate of up to 3,000 parcels per hour. The machine has two cameras which scan parcels placed with the label face down, and can even read the recipient’s name as well as the address. Seventeen of Monaco Post Office’s 178 staff are allocated to parcel sorting duties. The Post Office handled 615,000 parcels in 2017, and this number is constantly growing, due in particular to the increase in online shopping.
