15 December 2020 Press release

Fourth phase of seasonal flu vaccination campaign

Following the first phase launched on 15 October, which prioritised vaccinations for over 65s resident in the Principality, a second phase that began on 3 November and covered all Monegasque nationals and residents, then, from 23 November, all employees insured by the Monaco Social Security Funds and the State Medical Benefits Office (SPME) and their dependents, the Prince’s Government is expanding the scope of the flu vaccination campaign.

From Monday 14 December, anyone who would like a flu vaccine, whether or not they are residents of the Principality, can get one from the country’s chemist shops, with or without a medical prescription.

In practice, the vaccines are available from the Principality’s chemists. Patients will be able to choose to have the vaccine administered by the chemist, or by their normal doctor or a private nurse.

The cost of the vaccine will be fully reimbursed by the patient’s social security fund.

The health authorities’ goal is to encourage many people as possible to get vaccinated, thereby making every effort to limit the compounding effects of the two viruses, which may be circulating at the same time.
