On Thursday 25 April, H.E. Pierre Dartout, the Minister of State, accompanied by Céline Caron-Dagioni, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, and Pierre-André Chiappori, Minister of Finance and Economy, met with Jean-Pierre Serrus, the Thirteenth Vice-President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region for transportation and sustainable mobility and Mayor of La Roque d’Anthéron, accompanied by Laurent Benvenuti, Transportation and Infrastructure Advisor in the Office of Renaud Muselier, President of the region, to discuss ways of improving rail service in the Principality.

Discussions focused on the investment programme and the means necessary to implement and ensure the best possible service in the Principality, both within the framework of pre-existing agreements, but also by looking for novel solutions such as the rental of multiple unit trains or acquiring additional new trains.

The Prince’s Government took the opportunity to recall the importance of train service to the Principality as a key means of transport for the thousands of cross-border workers and visitors who come to Monaco every day. The first round of decisions concerning the choice and implementation of solutions is expected this year, as early as May.

Given the challenges shared by the Principality and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, both parties agreed to meet periodically in order to continue these constructive and essential discussions.
