The Board of Auditors submits the 2023 Annual Public Report to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince

On 12 March 2024, the Chairman of the Board of Auditors, Mr Christian Descheemaeker, submitted the 2023 Annual Public Report to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, which was approved by the Principality's Supreme Audit Institution on 18 November 2023 and 12 December 2023.

In accordance with the Sovereign Ordinance of 2 July 2008, this report, which is available on the Government website, details the Board's activities during the past year.

In 2023, the Board of Auditors conducted its audit of the State's accounts and financial management for the 2022 financial year. The main purpose of this report is to enable H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to settle the budget for the financial year.

The Board also conducted audits of the following:

- The Commune

- The Princess Grace Hospital

- The Social Protection Unit

- The State's prerogatives regarding copyrights.

Additionally, the audits of the Société Anonyme Monégasque “Explorations de Monaco" and the Yacht Club de Monaco have been completed. The audit of ASM Football Club (training centre), which was also carried out in 2023, is almost complete. The adversarial procedure for the latter audit did not begin until 2024.

Furthermore, the Board of Auditors has continued its audit of the energy transition policy, which will be completed shortly.

Finally, by Sovereign Ordinance of 15 June 2023 the Chairman of the Board of Auditors has been entrusted with a specific task concerning the rules of conduct of members of Government. From now on, they will submit a declaration of assets to the Chairman of the Board of Auditors, who will verify its validity and ensure that it's kept on file.

The chairman, secretariat and two other board members were involved in a major event for the Board during 2023: the Electoral Campaign Auditing Committee for the February 2023 national elections and the March 2023 local elections. As detailed in the Public Report, this involvement has significantly contributed to the smooth running of the institution, created by the amended Law of 2 July 2012 on the financing of election campaigns.
