The 2024 St. Devota Celebrations Practical arrangements for Friday, 26 January 2024
As part of the St. Devota celebrations on Friday, 26 January 2024, several organisational and safety measures have been implemented in terms of traffic and public access to the ceremonial areas (the procession on Quai des Etats-Unis/Route de la Piscine - the ceremony on Place Sainte Dévote - the boat burning ceremony, on Quai Albert I).
- Public access
Security checkpoints: Bag and container inspections and a 'public' zone will be in place from 5.30pm:
1) On Place Sainte Dévote for those wishing to watch the procession and the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
2) On the north side of Quai Albert I for those wishing to watch the boat burning ceremony.
- Access from the train station
Train passengers should note that the St. Devota Valley will be closed to pedestrians from 5.30pm.
The St. Devota stairs will also be closed from 5.30pm.
Passengers travelling to and from Rue Grimaldi can reach or depart the station via Galerie Sainte-Dévote.
- Practical traffic arrangements
The Route de la piscine will be closed between Avenue J.F. Kennedy and the Jules Soccal jetty from 6.15pm to 7pm.
To ensure the event runs smoothly, there will be occasional traffic closures on Boulevard Albert I, Avenue JF Kennedy and Avenue d'Ostende between 6.45pm and 7.45pm.
- Transport and parking arrangements
There will be some disruption to local public transport services (lines 1, 2 and 6) and intercity services (ZOU lines 607 and 80) during the traffic disruptions referred to above.
Regarding public car parks (access/diverting), information will be provided to users by the service concerned (notices will be displayed on the car park access terminals)
****
The local authority kindly asks users to take the necessary precautions, thanks them for their understanding and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
