Opening of the 2024 swimming season: a renewed commitment for a safe and relaxing summer on our beaches
The 2024 summer swimming season is about to begin. This year again, the Prince’s Government affirms its commitment to ensure the quality and safety of our beaches, attested to by the declaration of conformity based on the results of the previous year and displayed at each bathing site.
The swimming season is a highly anticipated one that offers everyone the opportunity to bathe in the sea. To ensure the best possible conditions for everyone, Larvotto beach has been levelled out.
The Department of the Environment monitors the quality of swimming water by taking samples every week. These are analysed and the results are published every week at Larvotto police station and at each beach to ensure that the information is easily accessible to all users.
The Monegasque Sanitation Company will continue to work from 8am to 6pm daily to ensure that beaches – both the beach area and the water – are clean and hygienic.
Operation Monaco Zéro Mégot (Butt Free Monaco) will operate again this year, run by Monaco City Hall, the Monegasque Sanitation Company and the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, to raise awareness among residents and tourists about how cigarette butts pollute our environment.
The Department of Maritime Affairs will address the challenges posed by jellyfish every summer by installing a jellyfish net on 1 June 2024 to enhance the safety of everyone in the water.
The Department of the Environment is pleased to present an educational and informative leaflet: Guide to safe and responsible swimming in the Principality. This document aims to promote good swimming and bathing habits and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
We invite residents and visitors to enjoy the beaches and facilities of the Principality in compliance with safety and cleanliness guidelines. By combining leisure and environmental awareness, summer 2024 promises to be an exceptional season to be enjoyed by all.
