In her speech, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia stressed that, "As a Minister, and also as a mother, and for you all as a sponsor of this year group, I should like to emphasise the extent to which your diversity is your richness.   It is also the expression of a world at peace, which resolutely looks towards the future.  I would add that I am particularly pleased to have been the Patron of an intake with slightly more women than usual, with 36 out of a total of 156 students."  She then concluded, "Now this course has come to an end, many of you are eager to begin your working life and put everything you have learned into practice.  From now on, the world belongs to you.  Dream it, imagine it and shape it as you would like it to be. "

At this ceremony, the Minister praised the work undertaken in the Principality by two students – work concerning cyber attacks on the Internet and a study on telephone fraud, with very practical implications.

At the end of the diploma ceremony, contact was made with the team from the car manufacturer Venturi in Bonneville Salt Flats, which was again attempting to beat a speed record.  Last year, in the United States, the VBB-3 Venturi reached a top speed of 341 mph, making it the fastest electric car in the world.  For more than half an hour, the students were able to talk to the Venturi team by satellite.  This dialogue was supported by Fabrice Marquet, the Director of MonacoTech.

The Prince's Government and EURECOM: more information...

In 2013, a partnership was agreed at Sophia Antipolis between the Prince's Government and the EURECOM School of Digital Sciences.  The Monegasque State thus became an institutional partner of the school.

The signing took place on 11 June between Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development and Ulrich Finger, the Director of EURECOM, in the presence of Martin Péronnet, Director of Monaco Telecom and Jean-Pierre Mascarelli, General Councillor of the Alpes-Maritimes, representing Jean Leonetti, Mayor and Member of Parliament.

Monaco is associated with the EURECOM EIG (Economic Interest Group) through the intermediary of its National Financing Company. The EIG brings together renowned French and European academic partners (schools of the Mines Telecom Institute) as well as leading industrial partners (such as Orange, ST Microelectronics, BMW, IABG and Symantec).

Initially, the partnership related to digital security of the Internet and networks, in cooperation with Monaco Telecom, which is also a member of the EURECOM EIG.  It has now been expanded to include practical topics, such as the smart city, future networks, mobility and the use of high-performance infrastructure to facilitate innovation.  The school also supports the Principality in the cooperation framework agreement on digital innovation, which was signed in June 2015 with the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur.  The aim is to build a mobility laboratory in association with other members of the School (Orange and Monaco Telecom).

Marie-Pierre Gramaglia is the patron of EURECOM's 2017 intake, which is comprised of 106 European students, 22 Asian students, 20 African students and 8 American students.
