On 30 September 2019, the organisers of the EXPO 2020 DUBAI Universal Exhibition officially handed over plot of land C-48, on which Monaco's Pavilion will be built, to Monaco Inter Expo (MIE).  In line with the chosen theme, "Monaco 360° - a World of Opportunities," the MIE launched the construction work today, 360 days before the opening of the EXPO.

Reflecting the theme of the EXPO 2020 Dubai, "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future," the exhibition will be constructed in the form of three petals, each corresponding to a different themed area - Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – converging towards a focal point, the Al Wasl Plaza.  Monaco's Pavilion, which will be built in the "Opportunity" section, will feature architecture inspired by Monaco's Rock, with the aim of showcasing the many facets of the Principality.  It will take the form of a kaleidoscope, revealing its special characteristics, its trades and professions, the actions it undertakes, its many points of view, its diversity, etc., as well as the incredible number of activities that take place there, which all too often remain unknown, even in Monaco.

More than 25 million visitors are expected at this global event.

The plot for Monaco's Pavilion:

  • Has a surface area of 1,770 m2
  •  Has 920 m2 of floor space
  •  Will house a pavilion of 1,480 m2
  • Will involve 7 months of structural work (April 2020)
  • Will include a specially designed interior, due to be undertaken between June and September 2020
  • Will have solar panels, which will be brought into use and connected to the Dubai electricity grid (DEWA) from April 2020.
