On Tuesday 13 October 2020, Grenada became the 151st state with which the Principality of Monaco has established diplomatic relations. A joint communiqué was signed by the two countries’ permanent representatives to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Ms Keisha McGuire and H.E. Ms Isabelle Picco.

A small, developing island nation in the Caribbean and a member of the United Nations since 1974, Grenada faces several recurring challenges, including those associated with the impact of climate change, such as flooding, droughts and longer, more dangerous hurricane seasons.

Alongside the Principality, Grenada was elected to one of the 16 vice-presidencies of the UN General Assembly for this year’s session commemorating the 75th anniversary of the UN.

Monaco and Grenada will continue their close collaboration for sustainable development, particularly with regard to protecting the oceans and seas.
