Diplomacy – Accreditation of the Ambassadors of France and Italy
On Monday 19 September 2016, Mr. Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, representing the Minister of State, received H.E. Ms. Marine de Carne de Trecesson de Coetlogon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic and H.E. Mr. Cristiano Gallo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy, who presented their Letters of Credence to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince during the morning.
An official lunch, presided over by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, was given in their honour at the Residence of the Minister of State, in the presence of many dignitaries*.
A graduate of the Institute of Political Studies, H.E. Ms. Marine de Carne de Trecesson de Coetlogon was appointed Deputy Director for Southern Europe at the Central Administration in 2004. She then became Advisor at the Permanent Mission of France to the European Union. She was Deputy Director of climate change and sustainable development at the Department of European and International Affairs from 2010 to 2013 and was promoted to Ambassador in charge of bioethics and corporate social responsibility in 2013.
H.E. Mr.Cristiano Gallo is a graduate in Political Science. He began his diplomatic career in 1987 at the Department of Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA). In 1989, he joined the Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi, and then in Maputo. He was promoted to Counsellor at the Embassy in Riyadh in 1999 and First Counsellor in Bucharest in 2002. H.E. Mr. Cristiano Gallo was appointed to the Diplomatic Ceremonial of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2007, before becoming Minister Plenipotentiary at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In 2014, he rejoined the MEA, working for the Head of the Diplomatic Ceremonial.
