Runoff of Sludge on the Saint-Roman Beach from the Testimonio Construction Site
A runoff of sludge occurred at the end of last week on the Saint-Roman beach, at the place known as the Pont de Fer, on the eastern border of the Principality.
During pile drilling work on the Testimonio construction site, an unidentified fault in the ground accelerated a flow of sludge, which spilled into the valley as far as the beach.
Although drilling work was immediately stopped on Friday, muddy water continued to run off until Monday. It was then possible to start cleaning work to mitigate this nuisance, which consisted of non-bacteriological turbidity.
On the initiative of the State departments, the site managers are in contact with the relevant departments at the Town Hall in Roquebrune Cap Martin, in order to provide information in real time. A surveillance camera will also be installed in the valley to monitor this part of the site on a permanent basis.
