On Thursday 6 March, the Youth Advisory Committee met for the fifth time since it was established in 2004. The meeting, chaired by Mr Beffre, the Minister of the Interior, marked an important new step in the Prince’s Government’s commitment to young people in the Principality.

“It is vital that the Government holds fresh meetings with youth associations to discuss prospects for the future,” said the Minister of the Interior, opening the session.

The meeting was attended by Mr Vinci, Director of Education, Youth and Sport, Ms Le Clerc, Chair of the National Council Committee on Education, Youth and Sport, and Ms Boscagli Leclercq, Deputy Mayor for Youth, Parity and Gender Equality. It offered the opportunity for some 20 young members of the Committee to discuss key topics and put forward innovative ideas to benefit their generation.

During the meeting, government actions to support young people were presented. The young people representing youth associations were also able to share their wishes with those representing the country’s institutions, thus reaffirming their determination to be agents of change.

The fifth meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Prince’s Government, as well as young people’s readiness to play an active role in developing national policy.

Further meetings on working together are planned.
