COP22: Marie-Pierre Gramaglia at the WHO Ministerial Summit
The Marrakech Conference on climate change is currently taking place in Morocco (7/18 November 2016). This is the 22nd conference of the parties (COP22) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. 196 States are participating.
H.S.H. Prince Albert II is attending COP22, accompanied by His delegation. Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, gave a speech yesterday at the ministerial summit on "Health, Environment and Climate Change " organised by the WHO. She expressed the wish that COP22 could lay the foundations for fruitful collaboration between the sectors of health and environment, and assured Margaret Chan, Director-General of the WHO, of the Principality of Monaco's unwavering support.
As a reminder, COP22 is a continuation of the world summits organised by the United Nations Organization following the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, which covered the period of 2008/2012. It aims are to define the modalities for the application of the climate agreement signed in Paris at the COP21 and the schedule of negotiations.
