PRO A – week 1 : ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne vs A.S. Monaco Basket

For Week 1 of the Pro A basketball league season, A.S. Monaco Basket (Pro A) is heading to Rhône tomorrow to take on defending champions ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne.

With Tony Park at the helm, ASVEL have their sights set on the double this season.

Coach J.D. Jackson’s team kicked off their season with a new title, winning the Champions Match against Le Mans (75–71) on 20 September, after a very tight contest.

The match will also be an opportunity to see Jamaican Adrian Uter in action again. Uter transferred to the Rhône club this summer after a great season with the Roca Team, scoring an average of 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per match in the play-offs, and contributing 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds during regular season matches.

The Roca Team were victorious in all of their pre-season matches and have just won the Appart City Cup, a tournament held as part of preparations for the Pro A season, beating Spanish team Valencia in the final (88–76) after seeing off, in the semi-final, reigning champions... ASVEL (73–62).

Last season, A.S. Monaco Basket dominated both at home and away in regular matches against the Villeurbanne team.

They were then defeated by ASVEL in the play-off semi-final (1–3).

The first clash of the regular season for the Roca Team will take place at 6.30 pm tomorrow at the Astroballe in Villeurbanne.
