New ‘Sainte Dévote’ stop on the Express X3 bus service

As part of its mobility programme, the Prince’s Government launched X3 and X4, two new express and experimental bus lines to connect the eastern and western areas of the Principality. These two routes run Monday to Friday, 7 am to 7 pm from Fontvieille to the Larvotto and La Rousse districts with few intermediate stops.

After a period of rapid growth during the first months of the service, traffic on these new routes has stabilised, with approximately 13,400 passengers in the second half of 2024 on the X3 line and 5,300 passengers on the X4 line.

These lines accommodate the needs of many passengers, around 55% of whom hold passes, 35% take the bus occasionally, and 10% are schoolchildren.

The Government is committed to ensuring that these experimental lines remain flexible and adaptable to best meet the mobility needs of the population.

To do so, a study was carried out on travel habits and the utility of stops along the lines; based on feedback from passengers, the Government decided to create a new stop: “Place Sainte-Dévote (Gare)” on the X3 line, from Larvotto --> Fontvieille starting on 24 February 2025. The addition of this stop will balance out the line, which until now included a “Princesse Antoinette” stop but only running from Fontvieille to Larvotto, and also meet the needs of passengers travelling to the station.

The Government, together with the Monegasque Bus Company, is continuing its work to evaluate the bus network so as to offer the best service possible and encourage a shift to public transport to reduce the use of personal vehicles.
