Monaco and Europe: Prince’s Government holds meetings with regulated professions
As part of the preparatory work for the negotiations being led by the Prince’s Government with the European Commission and the European External Action Service, a series of meetings has been organised with the Monegasque Committee for Regulated Professions on 21 and 22 April.
Since negotiations with the European Union began in March 2015 (see elsewhere), the Monegasque negotiating team has sought to set up mechanisms for cooperation with the various parties which have an interest in the issues raised by the European Commission.
One example of this is the Monegasque Committee for Regulated Professions, with which the Prince’s Government has held regular meetings since the launch of negotiations.
To gain a more in-depth analysis, the Prince’s Government wanted to consult each of the professions represented by the Committee on an individual basis and:
- update them on the progress of negotiations;
- gather specific information, particularly regarding the expectations of the professionals in each body;
- discuss the rules which generally apply within the framework of the “four freedoms” of the European internal market.
These meetings are chaired by Gilles TONELLI, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, who is responsible for coordinating the negotiations, and attended by members of the Ministry of State’s Europe Unit, representatives of the Department of Justice and relevant ministries, Government consultants specialising in these issues, and Franck BIANCHERI, who is responsible for the interface between the public and private sectors.
