The Prince's Government provides support for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
Since the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (26 July - 11 August), the Digital Platforms and Resources Department (DPRN) - part of the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition - has played an integral part in the arrangements put in place by the Agence Nationale des Fréquences to manage and control the radio frequency spectrum at all the Olympic venues in France.
Frédéric Rué and Hubert Phan were assigned to the Test & Tagging office at the Allianz Riviera Stadium in Nice for the duration of the world's biggest sporting event.
A huge logistical challenge
Managing the radio frequency spectrum is a major challenge for host countries during major events, with frequencies heavily used by organisers, security, and the media. Every year, the DPRN implements large-scale operational measures for the Principality's most important events, such as the Grand Prix, the Monte Carlo Rally, the Monaco Yacht Show and, more recently, the final stage of the Tour de France. It controls all the radio equipment, checks the wireless devices used and ensures that the allocated frequencies are available in real time (on-board cameras, walkie-talkie communication, footage filmed on location, security vehicle radios, etc.).
Throughout the year, the DPRN also plans and coordinates frequencies for third parties, including public and private stakeholders such as Monegasque-flagged boats, aircraft, building managers, Monegasque DTT and DTTN, FM radio stations and mobile phone operators.
