This afternoon, an intense apartment fire in the 21 Avenue Princesse Grace building required the involvement of substantial resources: 65 firefighters and more than 15 vehicles.

During the operation, the Principality’s firefighting unit lost one of its own, who succumbed to the fire.

Sergeant Thierry PERARD, aged 52 and with more than 26 years of service, leaves behind a wife and a 21-year-old daughter.

Monaco’s Fire and Emergency Service requests that the family’s privacy and space to remember their loved one be respected.

The Service will not be making any further comment at this time.
