16th European Mobility Week: "Sharing Gets You Further"
On the initiative of the Department of the Environment, the Principality is taking part in the 16th European Mobility Week from 16 to 22 September, in partnership with the Electric Vehicles Club, Monaco Sustainable Development (MC2D) and Monaco City Hall.
The aim of this event is to encourage everyone to travel "differently" – on foot, by bike, in an electric vehicle, by car sharing, public transport and alternative forms of transportation.
From Saturday 16 to Sunday 17 September, a festive mobility event will take place at the Larvotto (Rose des Vents), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On these two days, Renault and Eccity will be offering free test-drives of two- and four-wheel electric vehicles. This will be an opportunity to get behind the wheel of electric vehicles such as the Twizy and the Zoe or the handlebars of electric two-wheelers, such as the Eccity.
The Monegasque Bus Company and Mobee will be offering a chance to try their self-service electric vehicles, bikes and Twizys – an opportunity to find out how these concepts work and perhaps take out a subscription.
The Mediterranean Institute for Market Research and Sustainable Development (IMEDD) will present and lead games on the theme of mobility.
Younger visitors will be able to take part in Bio-Logika, a fun, educational game to raise awareness of the various forms of mobility - cars, bicycles, buses, walking, etc. - as well as a variety of recreational workshops. Several challenges will be offered for 5-14 year-olds: Challenge 1 Mobility Race; Challenge 2 Draw Your City; Challenge 3 LIM QUIZ; Challenge 4 Describe Your Life by Bike; Challenge 5 Who Walks the Most? Challenge 6 Acrobats in Town; Challenge 7 Sack Race; Challenge 8 Crazy Gym; Challenge 10 Friends of the Owls Sprint; Challenge 11 Michelin-Starred Chefs; Challenge 12 LIM CITY FACTORY; Challenge 13 A Song for the Planet; Challenge 14 Energy Hunt (young teenagers).
There will be various recreational, sporting and educational workshops, in which children can compete with their parents in a good-natured atmosphere.
Saturday, September 16
On Public Transport Day, buses on the Monegasque Bus Company's network will be free of charge.
17 September
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday by Bike. The Avenue Princesse Grace will be partially closed to motor vehicles for the occasion to enable everyone, both children and adults, to travel around a safe area of the Larvotto district. Families and friends will be able to meet there on electric or ordinary bikes, roller skates or even skateboards.
