United Nations: Presentation of Peace and Sport x My Coach application to Group of Francophone Ambassadors
On 30 November 2021, Monaco’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations, together with the International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) and Côte d’Ivoire representations, co-organised a virtual meeting of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors to present the application developed by Peace and Sport to share the digital methodology for practices adapted to sport in 2019.
Two partners operating on the ground in Togo and Burkina Faso shared their impressions of the tool, which complements national education programmes. The application aims to strengthen social cohesion between children, promote gender equality and reduce inequalities.
Right now, the Peace and Sport x My Coach application is being used by 227 partner educators in 10 countries, 7 of them French-speaking. More than 1,500 children aged between 8 and 12 years old are benefitting from the application every week. The innovative nature of the tool lies in the fact that it provides access to a multitude of exercises which can be adapted to any context and that on-the-ground experience is fed back to contribute to a comprehensive analysis.
The meeting strengthened the visibility and understanding of the role of sport in building peace and creating peaceful and inclusive communities. Monaco’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations and Peace and Sport, an association founded in 2007 and operated under the high patronage of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, have been promoting the power of sport and its values within their respective areas of action for many years.
