Diplomatic relations established between Principality of Monaco and Republic of Belarus
The Principality of Monaco and the Republic of Belarus signed a joint communiqué on 15 April 2016, establishing diplomatic relations between the countries.
The document was signed by H.E. Mr Claude Cottalorda, Monaco’s Ambassador to France, and H.E. Mr Pavel Latushka, the Belarusian Ambassador to France, having both been duly authorised to do so by their respective governments.
The ceremony, which was attended by diplomats from the two Embassies, took place at the Belarusian Chancery in Paris.
During the ceremony, the two Ambassadors expressed their desire to develop relations between Belarus and Monaco in the fields of culture, the economy and sport. With regard to culture, H.E. Mr Latushka paid tribute to the excellence of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, which he hopes to see perform in Belarus. He also expressed his wish to organise meetings between economic players from the two countries. Finally, the two Ambassadors welcomed the sports cooperation that exists between their countries, including through the Peace and Sport association, and noted the success achieved by the Monegasque basketball and football teams.
The Republic of Belarus is the 129th state to establish diplomatic relations with the Principality of Monaco.
