SURREALLINES - Exhibition Hall, Quai Antoine I until 22 August

Echoing the Dalí exhibition at the Grimaldi Forum, the Department of Cultural Affairs is presenting an exhibition of photographs which highlight the links between surrealism and contemporary photography at the Exhibition Hall on Quai Antoine I.

The public will be able to view a hundred works by six artists: Thierry Fontaine, Agnès Geoffray, Philippe Durand, Sandrine Esther Elberg, Michel François and Borys Mykhailov.

Each in their own way, the photographers have all borrowed from an artistic movement dating back more than a century: distrust of any form of realism, superimposition of images, unconventional framing or photomontage, a change in scale, close-ups revealing incongruous details or creating all manner of imaginary objects. Visitors are immersed in a world which makes constant calls on the imagination.

Open Tuesday–Sunday, 1 pm to 7 pm – Entry is free
