As part of the MONEYVAL evaluation of the Principality of Monaco’s anti-money laundering and terrorist financing (AML-FT) system, a delegation has travelled to Strasbourg led by Mr Michel Hunault, head of delegation, and Ms Sylvie Petit-Leclair, Secretary of Justice.

The working meeting was opened by Minister of Finance and Economy, Mr Jean Castellini, attending via video-conference from Monaco, who reiterated the various actions taken by the Principality to comply with the FATF’s requirements, and in particular the efforts made by all Monegasque Government departments.

This week of face-to-face meetings will enable the Monegasque delegation to provide the evaluation team with a clearer picture of Monaco’s high level of compliance, and the effectiveness of the measures it has taken.

Michel Hunault restated the demands expressed by H.S.H. Prince Albert II and his Government, who have called for the Principality to be exemplary in the prevention and repression of financial crime and the implementation of AML-FT measures.
