SICCFIN attends FIU Forum in Rabat

At the Francophone Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Forum held in Rabat, Monaco’s SICCFIN was represented by Mr Eric Bergesi, Head of the Investigation Section, and Mr Michel Hunault, Director, here with their French and Canadian counterparts. The Forum was also attended by Ms Nadia Fettah Alaoui, the Minister of Finance for the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Forum, which continues the work of the previous event held in Monaco, was an opportunity for productive discussions between FIUs covering sensitive topics such as international cooperation, combatting terrorist financing, and cryptocurrencies in relation to preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.

Each FIU was able to present its assessment of the risks and talk about cooperation between departments, a pre-requisite for effectively combatting the challenges posed by international financial crime.

The discussion of international sanctions was an opportunity to highlight the effectiveness and solidarity of the international response.

The Forum is part of ongoing cooperation between the Egmont Group FIUs ahead of the next Financial Action Task Force (FATF) session.
