On Monday 16 December, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, the Principality's Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, alongside Christian Estrosi, President of the Côte d'Azur Metropolitan Area, Philippe Tabarot, Vice-President of the General Council and Vice-President of the Regional Council for Transport, Intermodality and Travel, and many Presidents of Urban Communities in the Alpes-Maritimes, took part in a presentation at Nice City Hall on the "Sud Azur Transport Pass," to be launched on 1 January 2020 in the Department of the Alpes Maritimes.

This new transport pass is an affordable alternative to the use of private cars;  it gives users access to unlimited travel on all public transport networks (bus, train and tram) in the Alpes-Maritimes, via a monthly season ticket at an advantageous rate, which is lower than the total for the various season tickets.  As from 1 September 2020, it will include the network of the Monegasque Bus Company.

Marie-Pierre Gramaglia recalled that "the Principality aims to reduce traffic by approximately 20% with regard to light vehicle traffic by 2030.  In this respect, it is encouraging the use of multimodal and rail transport.  We are committed, along with the Region, and are contributing to the financing of the TER (Express Regional Train), with an annual contribution of EUR 8 Million, which corresponds to approximately 50% of the total contribution for the 13,000 beneficiaries of TER price reductions travelling from or to Monaco."

The Minister also highlighted bus connections, stating that  "We also encourage the use of the CARF bus routes and the regional route 100 from Nice to Menton via Monaco.  These are important regular routes, which we are supporting through a financial contribution.  Today, the Sud Azur Pass is an additional opportunity, which invites everyone to use all types of public transport more easily."

The Alpes-Maritimes is divided into seven zones;  the SUD AZUR pass give passengers access to several different public transport networks, around which they can navigate easily.  It is modular, and can be adapted to suit all needs perfectly – it is therefore possible to purchase 1, 2 or 3 adjacent zones, or ... have access to the entire Department of the Alpes-Maritimes.

In the selected zones, season ticket holders have access to the urban network(s) and the ZOU! regional interurban networks (buses, trains and railways of Provence).
