Government works to improve housing support measures

©Direction de la Communication

The Prince’s Government has introduced amendments to the legislation on National Housing Aid and the state housing sector to ensure that it continues to reflect specific situations.

In doing so, the Government has multiple objectives, including:

  • to make changes to the methods used to calculate aid and make them more favourable for certain categories in the private sector;
  • to continue paying out aid at the full rate to surviving spouses aged over 65 in circumstances where an extra room was granted for health reasons;
  • to deduct maintenance payments when calculating household income and to exclude the employment earnings of children who are classified as students, in line with an established threshold, when calculating aid payable to their parent.

These improvements supplement the financial incentives introduced in September 2023 for households without dependent children who free up four- or five-room apartments during the exchange and allocation process.

In addition, the reference rent table is being reassessed from 1 January 2025, as follows:

Number of rooms Reference rent
Studio   2.720,00 €
2 rooms   5.310,00 €
3 rooms   8.850,00 €
4 rooms 13.490,00 €
5 rooms or more 16.850,00 €

The Ministerial Decrees on National Housing Aid and the revised terms and conditions for allocating state-owned housing will be published in the Journal de Monaco on 18 October 2024:
