Visit to Principality by Foreign Ministers of Andorra and San Marino

H.E. Mr Gilbert Saboya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Andorra, and H.E. Mr Pasquale Valentini, Minister of Foreign and Political Affairs of the Republic of San Marino, accompanied by their respective delegations,* visited Monaco on 18 October 2016 as part of the negotiations with the European Union.

A working meeting was held with Mr Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E Ms Sophie Thevenoux, Ambassador and Head of the Principality of Monaco’s Mission to the European Union, and Ms Isabelle Costa, Deputy Secretary-General of the Government in charge of the EU Coordination Unit.

During this political meeting, the following points were discussed: the impact of Brexit on the current negotiations, progress of the negotiations at the institutional level, development of the free movement of goods and expectations regarding the free movement of services. There was also an update on the free movement of capital and people.

Andorra, San Marino and Monaco began negociations with the European Union on 16 December 2014, with a view to reaching an association agreement.

 Andorra: H.E. Ms Maria Ubach, Ambassador of Andorra to the European Union and H.E. Mr Enric Tarrado-Vives, Ambassador of Andorra to Monaco.

San Marino: H.E. Ms Antonella Benedettini, Ambassador to the European Union and Mr Luca Brandi,Plenipotentiary Minister and Director of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
