PRINCE PIERRE OF MONACO FOUNDATION Press Release No. 2

Literary tea,

Reading Marathon,

Best Book Review,

and Prize for a Critical Essay on Contemporary Art

The main aim of the Reading Marathon, which is organised in conjunction with the award of the Literary Prize and the Discovery Grant, is to involve the public in the Foundation’s literary activities.

From 15 June to 2 September, readers at media libraries throughout the Côte d’Azur were invited to read the books shortlisted by members of the Foundation’s Literary Council for the Literary Prize and the Discovery Grant. They then shared their opinions on the books by completing special questionnaires.

As every year, there will be awards for the two best book reviews submitted by readers. The winners will receive a FNAC gift card and will be invited to attend the Foundation’s evening event on Tuesday 4 October in Monaco.

Pupils from three classes at Collège Charles III also took part in the Marathon, under the guidance of their French literature teacher.

Again as part of the Reading Marathon, the Prince Pierre Foundation will offer readers an opportunity to attend a literary tea, which will be held on Wednesday 21 September at
5 pm in the Louis Notari Library – the perfect forum in which to share views on the works selected by the jury.

Another highlight of the Marathon is a meeting with the authors participating in the Discovery Grant competition. This will take place at 3 pm on Monday 3 October in the Louis Notari Library.
