On 2 May 2024, H.E. Ms Valérie Bruell-Melchior presented her letters of credence to H.E. Ms Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of La Francophonie, at the organisation's headquarters.
The ceremony was followed by a private audience during which the Secretary-General acknowledged the Sovereign Prince's and the Principality's commitment to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). The 19th Francophonie Summit will be held in October in Villers-Cotterêts and Paris, where the heads of state and governments from French-speaking countries will come together for this conference, which is set to be one of 2024's international highlights.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador reaffirmed the Principality of Monaco's support for the OIF's activities, through its cooperation policy, in areas where the organisation brings added value, such as sustainable tourism, the empowerment of women and education for young girls, particularly in the Sahel region.
