30-km rule: health checks now relaxed for entry to Var as well as Alpes-Maritimes

The Prince’s Government has taken note of the announcement made by the French authorities to the effect that health checks will be relaxed for residents of the Principality of Monaco visiting the department of Var.

In practical terms, as is the case for the Alpes-Maritimes, residents of the Principality of Monaco can visit Var without needing to take a PCR test, as long as their visit will last less than 24 hours.

This represents a further relaxation towards meeting the arrangements that the Prince’s Government has asked the French authorities to put in place. The Prince’s Government announces that it will apply reciprocal measures for residents of Var. In practical terms:

• Anyone entering Monaco from France must show proof of a negative PCR test within the last 72 hours. The following are exempt from this requirement: commuters, school pupils and students, as well as residents of the Alpes-Maritimes and Var departments who are visiting the Principality for less than 24 hours.

The Prince’s Government will continue to engage in constructive dialogue with the French authorities with a view to getting the 24-hour limit removed, as this restricts travel to the Var and Alpes-Maritimes departments, which are part of Monaco’s cross-border living area.
