H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince Albert II and H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover visited Monaco's Vocational and Catering School (Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monaco) to inaugurate a large-scale representation of the family tree of the Princes of Monaco, which has been placed in the hall of the school.

This work, which was created in 1970 at the wish of Prince Rainier III, was previously located at the Museum of Napoleonic Souvenirs and the Archives of the Prince's Palace.

Decorated with the crests of the main families allied to the Grimaldi since the 12th century, the family tree has been restored and updated to the present day with the addition of the Royal Children, H.S.H. Crown Prince Jacques, Marquis of Baux and H.S.H. Princess Gabriella, Countess of Carladès.  This work was undertaken under the guidance of Mr. Hervé Irien, Secretary General of the Advisory Committee on Art Works of the H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, in association with Mr. Thomas Fouilleron, Director of the Archives and the Palace Library.

Mr. Patrice Cellario, Minister of Interior, representing the Minister of State, and Mr. Christophe Steiner, President of the National Council, attended this event.

Ms. Isabelle Bonnal, Director of Education, Youth and Sport, thanked H.S.H. Prince Albert II for transferring the family tree to this educational establishment, an honour that reflects the importance the Sovereign Prince places on the education of Monaco's young people.

Ms. Bonnal then presented the Sovereign Prince and the Princess of Hanover with a copy of the second edition of the book on Monaco's history by Mr. Fouilleron.  This handbook, which is used in class for teaching the history of Monaco to Years 7 to 13, is embellished with a chapter retracing the ten-year Reign of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince.  It is accompanied by a DVD featuring some new images, including the wedding of T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene and the baptism of the Royal Children.

As a reminder, children who previously acquired the 1st edition of the handbook will be given a leaflet containing the new chapter, as well as the DVD.
