Government offers mission security awareness training to international solidarity organisations

With the increasingly worrying security environment in the Sahel and Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has organised security training aimed at Monaco’s international solidarity organisations, in order to raise their awareness of the risks they face during their overseas missions.

More than 20 organisations working in the field of international solidarity took advantage of these training sessions in December 2015 and February 2016. Led by Philippe Duffour, Executive Director of security consultancy Crisis24, the sessions were met with keen interest on the part of participants, who received numerous recommendations on the right responses to adopt during their field missions.

The topics covered included the risk of terrorism, crime, health precautions and risks associated with transport.

These security trainings were set up following the earthquake in Nepal on 25 April 2015, when the Prince’s Government took swift action to repatriate the 26 Monegasque nationals trapped high in the mountains (members of the Monaco Aide et Présence and NAMASTE charities). Crisis24 was heavily involved in these repatriation efforts.
