A delegation from Monaco* led by H.E. Mr Pierre Dartout took part in the 3rd Summit of the European Political Community, held on 5 October 2023 in Granada, under the Spanish presidency. This top-level meeting followed the summits in Prague (October 2022) and Chisinau (June 2023), and brought together 43 Heads of State and Government, the Presidents of the European Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. As in the previous summits, the objective was to reinforce cohesion, cooperation and dialogue between all European countries, with a view to preserving the peace and security of the continent.

The representatives had the opportunity to discuss many subjects of common interest, including the digital transition, artificial intelligence and current multilateral and geostrategic matters.

Following the plenary session, H.E. Mr Pierre Dartout took part in a round table on energy, the environment, and the fight against climate change, during which he was able to present the Principality’s actions to promote renewable energy.

The Minister of State also took the opportunity to speak with his counterparts from Andorra and San Marino, to reaffirm the links of friendship and cooperation uniting the three States.

Generally speaking, this summit provided an opportunity for numerous informal discussions with the leaders of the whole continent of Europe, in particular the Italian President of the Council of Ministers, Ms Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, and the Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir.

This top-level meeting closed with an official dinner in the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain at the Alhambra Palace.

The next summit of the European Political Community will be held in the United Kingdom, during the first half of 2024.
