Accreditation of H.E. Ms Anne Eastwood as Monaco’s Ambassador to Slovenia
In early May, in Ljubljana, during an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace, H.E. Ms Anne Eastwood, Ambassador, presented her credentials to Ms Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia.
This ceremony was followed by a private audience which highlighted the fact that the Principality and Slovenia agree on several issues. These included the two countries’ shared commitment in the areas of climate change and protection of the oceans, gender equality and the promotion of the role of women. The meeting also covered security challenges, in light of the international situation and Slovenia's candidature for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council next June.
Following her accreditation, the new Monegasque Ambassador to Slovenia had institutional meetings in the Palace of the Prime Minister and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during which various projects to strengthen cooperation were discussed, particularly in the areas of the economy and the environment. H.E. Ms Anne Eastwood also touched on the matter of the association agreement draft currently being discussed by Monaco and the European Union (of which Slovenia is a Member State) with a view to successfully concluding negotiations, respecting issues specific to Monaco, with the support of the Slovenian government.
Finally, H.E. Ms Anne Eastwood was received the following day, 4 May, by the President of the National Assembly, Ms Urška Klakocar Zupancic, who spoke of her intention to propose the creation of a Slovenia-Monaco friendship group, to encourage bilateral relations at a parliamentary level. For the first time in 2022, women were elected to head the parliaments of both countries.
On her trip to Slovenia, H.E. Ms Anne Eastwood was accompanied by Ms Christelle Revel, Third Secretary, and by Mr Franjo Bobinac, Monaco’s Honorary Consul to Slovenia, with whom there was subsequently a visit of the Consulate in Ljubljana.
Since she is already Monaco's Ambassador to Italy, H.E. Ms Anne Eastwood will exercise her new functions with regard to the Republic of Slovenia as a non-resident ambassador.
