Conference to Launch Monaco Explorations
This morning, at the Oceanographic Museum, H.S.H. Prince Albert II launched the 2017/2020 Monaco Explorations campaign, continuing, some 120 years later, the maritime scientific explorations initiated by His great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert I.
The Yersin, an ecological research ship that bears the Monegasque flag, will depart next August from the port of Monaco. The ship will follow a longitudinal route between the Tropics, on a 36-month world voyage.
The campaign will be based on the recommendations of a Scientific Steering Committee comprised of ten internationally renowned scientists, whose primary aim will be to select research programmes and choose projects. The approach will therefore be science-based, complemented by awareness-raising, communication and mediation activities.
This launch conference is the highlight of Monaco Ocean Week. It will be broadcast live on Monaco Info and on the Facebook pages of the Prince's Palace and Monaco Explorations.
A report will be available from this evening on Monaco Info.
