Celebration of Saint Barbara
On Monday 4 December, Monsignor Barsi presided over the celebration of the traditional mass of Saint Barbara at Saint Nicolas Church. Saint Barbara is the “patron and protector” of firefighters. The celebration was attended by, among others, Colonel Luc Fringant, Supreme Commander of the Military Force, representing H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince; Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, representing the Minister of State; and numerous Monegasque and French officials.
A garden in Monaco bears the name of Saint Barbara. It is an extension of the Saint Martin garden, running along the south-east side of the Rocher, and was created around 1830 during the reign of Prince Honoré V.
