In the presence of Professor Patrick Rampal, Director of the Monaco Scientific Centre, and Ms Isabelle Bonnal, Director of Education, Youth and Sport, 38 (32 pupils and six teachers) out of the initial 59 participants in the “Health – Climate – Environment Passport” programme were presented with their diplomas during a ceremony held recently at Monaco’s Vocational and Catering School.

Aimed at pupils in their final two years of secondary school in the scientific section, the voluntary programme jointly led by the Monaco Scientific Centre and the Department of Education, Youth and Sport comprised 10 seminars accessible via the Internet (e-learning) on the theme “the repercussions for human health of changes to the environment or climate.” The objective was to prepare pupils for the climate challenges of tomorrow, which will be the major public health issues of the twenty-first century.

Among the topics covered were the rise in average temperature and heat waves, atmospheric pollution, an increase in pollen and allergies, the impact of global warming on food production and possible solutions.
