Once again this year, the "Monaco Mediterranean Foundation," presided over by Enrico Braggiotti, is offering pupils from Years 12 and 13, the BTS and DCG, a cycle of high-level lectures at the Auditorium of Monaco's Vocational and Catering School (Lycée Technique et Hôtelier).

These special meetings, held under the High Patronage of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince Albert II, are organised in association with the French Institute for International Relations (Institut Français des Relations Internationales) (IFRI) in close partnership with the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, under the aegis of Ms. Isabelle Bonnal.

Throughout the school year, experts and researchers will speak on societal, environmental and geopolitical topics, covering  major issues of the modern world.

The first lecture, entitled "National Security – The Challenges for the Next Two Decades" took place on Thursday 10 November 2016.  It was an opportunity for Dominique David, a specialist in strategic issues and advisor to the President of the IFRI in Paris, to discuss threats and rivalries between major powers.

This cycle of talks continues on Tuesday 6 December 2016, when pupils will attend a lecture on the theme of "The Middle East/Mediterranean – An All-Out Dynamic Conflict?"  The topics discussed will include interrelated conflicts between regional powers, ethnic communities and religious communities, the impact of which goes beyond the strict limits of the Middle East.

The speaker will be Mr. Denis Bauchard, one of today's leading specialists in the Middle East and the Mediterranean area, a former Ambassador and former Director for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is important to remember that the aim of the lectures initiated by the "Monaco Mediterranean Meetings" is to encourage pupils in the Principality to be aware of the choices they face when building their future.  A broad knowledge of geopolitical, social and economic developments is fundamental in this regard.
