On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, which took place last January, the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, in close collaboration with the Festival, organised an educational event entitled "Circus Arts and Heritage" for the last class of nursery school and the upper years of primary school.

900 pupils from 38 classes took part in activities such as a drawing competition, a scientific workshop held in partnership with the Oceanographic Museum, two children's book-reading sessions, two educational performances in the Fontvieille Big Top, twenty artistic workshops with the support of local artists and fifty artistic workshops on mime and juggling, organised in partnership with the Arnika company.

Ms. Isabelle Bonnal, Director of Education, Youth and Sport and Ms. Armelle Borro, Head of the Pedagogical Development Centre, paid tribute to the schools, staff and pupils who participated in this educational event, which was entirely devoted to the Arts of the Circus, by visiting an exhibition of work on this topic by the Ecole de Fontvieille .
