Baccalaureate 2016: excellent results following main examination round

The absolutely outstanding results achieved once again in the 2016 baccalaureate examinations confirm the quality of education offered to pupils in the Principality.

 1. In the general baccalaureate, pupils from Lycée Albert I (98.3%) and Lycée François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré (FANB) (98.5 %) continued their tradition of excellence with a first-time pass rate of 98.3%, with 237 of the 241 candidates successful in the main round of examinations.

These brilliant results are further boosted by the awarding of numerous honours, underlining the level of performance attained by pupils and the quality of the support they received throughout the year. A total of 202 honours were awarded, as follows:

2. In the technological baccalaureate, very good results were recorded, with 15 out of 17 pupils from Monaco’s Vocational and Catering School successful at the main round of examinations, giving a pass rate of 88.2%. Seven pupils were awarded honours, including two highest honours and three high honours.

Pupils taking the Science and Industry, Sustainable Development (STI2D) option and the Sciences and Management Technologies (STMG) option at Lycée Albert I achieved a pass rate of 98.4%, with 63 out of 64 pupils successful at the main round of examinations and 52 pupils awarded honours, including two highest honours and 17 high honours.

 

3. Finally, pupils taking the professional baccalaureate achieved a 97.9% pass rate, with 93 out of 95 candidates successful at the main round of examinations and 68 pupils awarded honours, including four highest honours and 24 high honours.

The total proportion of pupils passing with honours rose from 78% in 2015 to 78.9% in 2016.

The eight candidates who did not achieve a pass in the general and technological baccalaureates at the end of the main round of examinations have been invited to an oral examination, starting tomorrow.

 The Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) results offered further confirmation of excellence in end-of-cycle examinations:

 

-        at Lycée Albert I, pupils achieved a 100% pass rate in the Accountancy and Office Management and Assistant Manager options, with 21 out of 21 candidates successful;

-        at Monaco’s Vocational and Catering School, pupils achieved a 91.7% pass rate in the Hotel Industry Option A (Hotel Marketing and Management), with 11 out of 12 candidates successful, and a 92.3% pass rate in Option B (Culinary Arts, Cookery and Table Service), with 12 out of 13 candidates successful.
