As part of the information day “Better careers guidance for our young people”, organised by the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, the Principality’s pupils had an opportunity to meet professionals working in various careers. Held for the second time at the Rainier III Auditorium, the day forms part of the career studies and development programme followed by secondary school students at both the collège and lycée level.

The Careers Agora, which is a highlight of school careers guidance for 14- and 15-year-old pupils in the Principality, aims to help them gain a better understanding of various careers across a dozen or so professional sectors. To improve the quality of this event, it was organised on a functional basis, to enable pupils to identify the relevant business sectors and career fields. This opportunity to meet professionals allowed students to take full advantage of their advice and experience.

The sixth Careers Discovery Afternoon, organised by the Committee for Graduate Employment in collaboration with the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, enabled pupils in their final year of schooling and those studying for the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur and Diploma in Accounting and Management qualifications to learn about the sectors which offer jobs in the Principality. The aim of the afternoon was to ensure that pupils and students are fully informed and help them to make decisions on their future career paths, taking account of the sectors that create jobs in Monaco, and to better understand the link between school work and the future education and training which they may undertake.

After introductions from Mr Stéphane Valeri, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Mr Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, and Ms Isabelle Bonnal, Director of Education, Youth and Sport, 14 professionals gave presentations to more than 500 of the Principality’s young people. They talked about the business sectors which offer jobs, including:

o     IT and new technologies

o     The hotel industry

o     Yachting

o     Financial careers

o     Accounting

o     Healthcare
