To mark the International Day of the Rights of Children, the Department of Education, Youth and Sport organised a celebratory afternoon on Wednesday 22 November in Princess Antoinette Park, in the presence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene, who was accompanied by T.S.H. Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco and Princess Gabriella, and H. R. H. the Princess of Hanover, accompanied by her grandson Balthazar.

The Principality’s iconic location for gatherings, Princess Antoinette Park was specially fitted out for this unique occasion. The half-day was filled with outstanding entertainment, original activities and creative workshops, all dedicated to celebrating the rights of all the world’s children, wherever they are and wherever they come from.

In honour of the Rainier III Preventorium in Madagascar, a result of the wishes of Prince Rainier III, whose birth centenary we are celebrating this year, original activities on the theme of Madagascar were offered to primary school children in the Principality.

Over 500 children were able to enjoy the many activities on offer.

Malagasy Gospel, a gospel choir made up of young Malagasy people from underprivileged backgrounds, was also invited to this wonderful, friendly afternoon. There was time for real sharing between Malagasy Gospel and the children of the Principality, especially in the introduction of the Malagasy games and in the braids workshop. Malagasy Gospel made the very generous gesture of spontaneously performing a song for H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover.

The attendance of the Prince’s Family at this celebration once again showed the unwavering commitment of the Princes and Princesses of Monaco to children. It was also a huge honour for the educational community of Monaco, all the Principality’s schools and all the teams in the Department of Education, Youth and Sport.

Madame Commissioner General expressed her heartfelt thanks to all who helped make the celebration such a success.

She also thanked the municipal services for the remarkable help they provided for the occasion.
