The 7th International Rose Trials: vote for the Public Choice Award!

©DR

The Friends of the Princess Grace Rose Garden Association, chaired by Mr Yves Piaget, in partnership with the Department of Urban Amenities (DAU), are hosting the 7th annual International Rose Trials at the Princess Grace Rose Garden.

For the first time, to eliminate the need for transportation, the 75 rose varieties in competition were grown locally by the gardeners of the Department of Urban Amenities at the Saint-Laurent d’Eze nursery using a 100% organic process. The bushes were examined by an international jury according to multiple criteria, including the number of flowers, the number of weeks a bush had flowers, its resistance to disease, its perfume, the quality of the rose (colour, growth, abundance of flowering), foliage and vigour.

This morning, the international jury* met in the Princess Grace Rose Garden for a final inspection of the rose bushes before deliberations and a friendly event with members of the Friends of the Princess Grace Rose Garden Association, the DAU and those taking part in the competition.

The JEAN CARLES® EVEpiweet rose, cultivated by EVE - RATEAU (France) and the Number 10 entry in the “Hybrid Tea” category, is the winner of the prestigious PIAGET ROSE Trophy, presented by the Piaget Factory and the Perfume Cup, presented by Monaco City Hall.

The MADAME® EVEvilady rose, bred by EVE - RATEAU (France) and the Number 36 entry in the “Many-flowered Roses” category, received the “Thumbs Up” from the Friends of the Princess Grace Rose Garden and was the gold medal winner in its category.

Other gold medal winners at the 7th International Rose Trials were rose number 27: ORANGE SUNRISE® by ROSES FOREVER in the “Hybrid Tea” category; rose number 68: PASHMINA® KORjeafra by the German grower KORDES ROSES in the “Ground cover roses” category, and Rose number 77: ROSA BONHEUR® SIRjoie by the French grower SCEA SIRPHE in the “Miniature” category.
